In an era where both media and civil society organisations face shrinking resources, rising mistrust, and mounting pressure to prove their value, one truth stands out — we can’t do this work alone. Collaboration has become more than a buzzword; it’s a necessity for survival and a catalyst for change.

That’s why the fraymedia Foundation is hosting an important conversation titled “Collaborating for Impact” on Thursday, 23 October 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 (SAST). The webinar will unpack what true collaboration means, how to build partnerships grounded in trust, and why shared purpose can strengthen journalism and advocacy alike.
The panel brings together leading voices who have walked the path of partnership:
- Ashley Green-Thompson, Founding Director of ACT Ubumbano, will share lessons from civil society collaboration for social justice and advocacy.
- Thandi Smith, Head of Programmes at Media Monitoring Africa, will explore insights from years of collaboration between media organisations, donors, and advocacy partners.
- Beauregard Tromp, African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) Convener, will discuss the power of cross-border collaboration in investigative storytelling.
- Mariam Ileyemi, Journalist at Premium Times Nigeria, will reflect on the value of collaborating with experts to produce impactful journalism.
Together, they will explore questions that cut to the heart of how we work: What makes collaboration meaningful? How do we choose the right partners? And what difference does it make to impact and sustainability?
At its core, “Collaborating for Impact” is about imagining a new way of working — one where media and civil society share resources, amplify each other’s voices, and stand stronger together in service of the public good.
Join us for a conversation that’s all about turning partnership into purpose.
